Q & A
What do you offer?
We are an interior design company that specializes in Feng Shui, interior design and eco-friendly approach to our spaces & the planet. We offer a range of packages to try and capture what we think you want and need. A lot of our work is done online and through distance design, though sometimes we work directly with our clients, depending on where you are globally.
In addition to traditional Design Package, we also offer a range of educational, informative & useful options in our Holistic Inner Design Site.
What is Holistic Design?
Holistic design is a term coined to indicate a style of interior design that is about the client instead of the designer, and a process that takes your whole life into consideration instead of just making pretty spaces regardless of function, costs or time frame. We look at the BIG picture with you to help you make the most informed choices possible.
Is Holistic Design similar to Interior Design?
Yes, a good interior designer is also typically one that uses the holistic approach. But not all are created equal. At S. Lee Wright Ltd, we will never force you to make a decision that is not right for you. We really want your full satisfaction.
What is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui is an ancient practice creating the mindful arrangement of your space. The balance & harmony between the internal and external environments is the main purpose of Feng Shui.
Feng Shui is a combination of an ancient Chinese Taoist culture, Buddhism and modern science/design used to work with our natural work to maximize our potential.
Lee studied with a Grand Master for three years and acquired a certificate from the BTB Masters Training Program in Black Sect Tantric Feng Shui.
How do you handle purchasing?
It depends. We often encourage our clients to be more hands on, as the industry and the online world has radically changed the platform and even you can get great deals if you purchase directly.
However it is important to emphasize that it is a time consuming task and requires a great level of detail and care in order to not make mistakes so we can provide this service for a fee when it is required and appropriate for your needs.
We also offer guidelines on best practices to do it yourself with our other packages so you can do it with more confidence.
How do you manage designing over a distance?
Designing is just mainly about clear, consistent and calm communication. We pride ourselves on striving always to meet this criteria and it is the cornerstone to our firm holistic approach.
Video calls, Skype, Google Hangouts, DropBox, and Zoom are some of the online platforms & tools that we use to communicate and perform our distance design tasks. This changes as it is an ever-changing world of technology so we will correct & continue with the newest, latest and most up to date platforms available.
Sometimes with our larger, full-service projects, on-site visits are required and built into the schedule accordingly.
What are your fees like?
This is a tough question to answer simply but it is always asked so here we will try to answer it for you.
Design Fees, like any other professional fees, will range depending on both the level of expertise being offered plus the scope of the work being requested.
Our firm is based on a high level of professionalism with Interior Design Licenses, Certificates and Professional credentials being the foundation for all our services.
However, we are also a very realistic company and strive to maintain a fair & reasonable pricing structure to ensure we can provide services to those that really want & need them.
- One hour of design consult is $108
- Our Design-a-Room is $798
- Our Full-Service Holistic Design Packages typically range from $1,999 +
S. Lee Wright has been practicing design for three decades, and is a licensed Interior Designer, LEED AP (ID+C), A GREEN Leader, Certified Feng Shui master as well as an Aromatherapist, Reflexologist. She is avid learner and maintains a hands on approach to learning all new things that can help service her world better. You get all of this, even if you just buy one hour of design consult with her.
What forms of payment do you take?
We take any form of payment! Cash, checks, credit cards or online transfers. Typically we prefer the easiest and fastest payment methods but each project can be confirmed in advance for what works best. If there are fees for the type of payment requested we will add it to the fee along with any appropriate taxes.
Do you recommend vendors, suppliers or contractors?
Yes, we will always share our vetted suppliers and contractors, however please be aware we can never be liable for services or the quality of work of others.
We offer our opinion but we make sure you are aware it is not our responsibility with other service providers. Our opinion is just that and can only be taken in the context of the project itself and time frame. We will always be candid and honest with you about our experiences with the vendors and contractors we have worked with, then it is y our choice.
If we are involved in a project with the selection of a contractor, or are responsible for the procurement of the fixtures, fittings or furnishings, then we will use our known sources directly and we are happy to share with you this list if you work with us.
Do you have references?
Yes, many. Just reach out to us and we can get you in touch with some folks that will be happy to talk with you about their experience of working with S. Lee Wright Ltd. We also have online references and testimonials on our site such as Linked in, Yelp and Houzz if you care to take a look there.
How long does a project typically take?
It depends on what you are looking to do. We have a document we share with our clients once they have engaged us to help them go through the design steps and understand the process in a more in-depth manner.
But simply put, a design project has three steps: 1. design creation, 2. procurement & approvals, 3. implementation. So depending on what you are doing, how long it takes to create the design, order and receive the products, and build it, the project can go from a weekend to a year, or more.
Lee’s standard rule of thumb for a renovation is 9 months, for a small one room design is 6 weeks.
How do we communicate with our designer?
What happens if I want to cancel my project?
If you cancel before any work has been provided, we will give you a full refund. However if the design process has started, there is a no refund policy for the hourly consultations and the room designs. With the larger projects there is a deposit that will be non-refundable once the LOA is signed, but depending on the work completed at the time of termination, a partial refund can often be agreed.
We understand things happen outside of our control and we strive to work with our clients to be satisfied, even when the unexpected happens. Sometimes we offer to use the funds towards a difference service when things change.
Do you design spaces outside of the US?
Yes, we work anywhere! Our distance design and DIWY™ methodology has been created specifically to allow this format to benefit our clients. We work mostly in the USA in the NYC based area. Now we are working in San Sebastian, Spain and London/Brighton, England.
Since our history with major projects is more in the USA/NYC region, we have more experience with suppliers and vendors in this region but we are happy to continue to expand as needed.
What is a Space Clearing Ritual?
Space Clearing is a ritual to break-up and remove clogged energy in your home to allow for new, fresh energy to fill in. It is sort of like an energetic house cleaning. For more information, read my Blog here:

This is a combination of Interior Design and Feng Shui provided in a consultative manner to review all areas in your home or office to determine what is working and what is not from both a functional, energetic and aesthetic viewpoint. It may include a site review, a floor plan review, Bagua overlay plus a list of recommendations for changes, enhancements and shifts in the space to make it meet your expectations.
